Harrison Central barely beat Beaver Local the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies' pitcher stepped up to hand the Beavers a 7-0 shutout on Monday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Emma Skinner, who gave up just five hits to keep Beaver Local off the board. Skinner has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kara Blackburn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Tonkovich, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
The win (which was Harrison Central's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
