Basketball Recap: 20 Straight Home Wins for Millard West

Millard West won against Elkhorn South last Tuesday with 75 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Millard West Wildcats claimed a resounding 75-32 win over the Bellevue West Thunderbirds. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Millard West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Norah Gessert out in front who posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. With that strong performance, Gessert is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Neleigh Gessert, who went 6 for 14 en route to 16 points.

Millard West smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stevie Harley, who put up 11 points and eight boards. Harley has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Da?Nyla Tatum was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Millard West pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Bellevue West, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-7.
