Baseball Recap: Geraldine Comes Up Short

Geraldine extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Collinsville Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.

As for Collinsville, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Collinsville's part, Gavin Lang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. Lang has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Collinsville let Sylas Adams and Mason McAteer run wild. Adams went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while McAteer went 1-for-2 with one home run. That's the most hits Adams has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brantley Daugherty, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

While Geraldine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
