Payson proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Pine View Panthers 6-5. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered an 11-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Blane Christensen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brigzen Houser, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Christensen wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Payson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Payson's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Pine View, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-2-1 record.

Coming up, Payson will take on Juan Diego Catholic in a tournament on Saturday. As for Pine View, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Pine View Panthers face off against Payson Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
