Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Academy Jaguars vs. Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors

The Jefferson Academy Jaguars will challenge the Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jefferson Academy has three straight victories, Eagle Ridge Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when Jefferson Academy faced off against Littleton on Saturday. Jefferson Academy took down Littleton 47-33. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Lions are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jimeto Orji was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Riley Prevost, who posted eight points along with five boards and five steals.

Jefferson Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Eagle Ridge Academy came up short against Denver Christian on Wednesday and fell 63-50.

Jefferson Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Eagle Ridge Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Jefferson Academy couldn't quite finish off Eagle Ridge Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 42-39. Can Jefferson Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
