Jordon Adell of Ballard elevated from All-American to National Player of the Year status over the course of one outstanding weekend.

Adell led Ballard to wins over Oldham County and Kentucky Country Day on May 2 and 3, going 5-for-6 with five home runs and 12 RBIs to surge into a huge lead in the national home run race. Adell went 2-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs in a 12-5 win over Oldham County and he went 3-for-3 with three home runs and six RBIs in an 8-4 win over Kentucky Country Day.

Adell finished the season with a .562 batting average and 25 home runs, leading the nation in the latter category by five home runs. He also had 61 RBIs, 53 runs scored and nine doubles.

For his efforts, Adell has been named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year.



Adell capped his senior year by being drafted No. 10 overall by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Coach of the Year - Todd Boyer, Shawnee (Okla.), 40-0
Boyer led his team to a third-straight state championship, an undefeated record and a national championship. MaxPreps has selected Boyer as the National Coach of the Year after leading the Wolves to a 40-0 record and a Class 5A state title in Oklahoma. Shawnee also finished as the No. 1 team in the nation by the Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings.

Adell and Boyer head the 2017 MaxPreps All-American Teams, which consist of 60 players on a first and second team.
