Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawrence County). They blew past the Haleyville Lions 10-4 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Red Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Zander Long looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Frost, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryder Mcgregory, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lawrence County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lawrence County's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs over those games. As for Haleyville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Lawrence County and Haleyville will both be playing Deshler the next time they take the field. Haleyville will head out to face Deshler at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Lawrence County will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
