Baseball Recap: La Mirada Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

La Mirada's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Gahr Gladiators by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Matadores: when they faced off against the Gladiators last Tuesday, they had to take a 10-2 loss.

Luke Armijo tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maverek Russell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted over his last three matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

La Mirada's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Gahr, they moved to 10-8 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

La Mirada will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gladiators: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
