Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Centennial Eagles
The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Centennial for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-18 win at home. Hammond has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Nia Green was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hammond's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Hammond's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Centennial, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Hammond will head out on the road to take on Long Reach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Reach has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6. Centennial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marriotts Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th.
