Baseball Game Preview: Canon-McMillan Big Macs vs. Bethel Park Black Hawks

Canon-McMillan is 2-8 against Bethel Park since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Big Macs will head out to challenge the Black Hawks at 4:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Canon-McMillan 2.4, Bethel Park 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Canon-McMillan was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Baldwin on Wednesday. The Big Macs blew past the Highlanders 7-1. The Big Macs haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

M.J. Maruschak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Canon-McMillan let Massimo Falconi and Nico Patragas run wild. Falconi went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Patragas got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Bethel Park came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Blue Devils.

Bethel Park pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Canon-McMillan, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Canon-McMillan might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Bethel Park in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Big Macs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
