Basketball Game Preview: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs. New Lexington Panthers

The Ironton Fighting Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the New Lexington Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ironton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Ironton will bounce into Thursday's game after beating North Adams, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Ironton came out on top against North Adams by a score of 52-42 on Saturday. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Fighting Tigers were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, New Lexington ended up a good deal behind Tri-Valley on Saturday and lost 54-36. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Scotties are ranked 81st).

Ironton's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for New Lexington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Ironton beat New Lexington 63-51 in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Does Ironton have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Lexington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
