Softball Recap: Mankato East's Undefeated Season over After Eight Games

Mankato East and Mankato West faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The Cougars took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scarlets. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Emily Hacker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mankato East fell to 7-1. As for Mankato West, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mankato East will venture away from home to square off against New Ulm at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mankato West, they will head out to challenge Hopkins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
