Softball Game Preview: Jena Giants vs. Pine Prairie Panthers

The Jena Giants will face off against the Pine Prairie Panthers on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jena 2, Pine Prairie 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Jena is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They beat Kinder by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Giants, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pine Prairie waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 4-1.

Jena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Prairie, their record is now 31-4.

Jena couldn't quite finish off Pine Prairie in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 and fell 2-0. Can the Giants avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
