Soccer Game Preview: Union vs. Gate City

Union is 2-8 against Gate City since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bears will look to defend their home pitch against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Union has given up an average of 4.3 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Union's offense. They came up short against Volunteer last Thursday, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Gate City waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wolfpack a 9-0 shutout. Gate City's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six contests.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Gate City, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Union couldn't quite get it done against Gate City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
