Basketball Recap: Marysville Getchell Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Marysville Getchell was the 65-47 winner over Edmonds-Woodway when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Marysville Getchell took a 58-42 bruising from the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors on Monday. While losing is never fun, Marysville Getchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Edmonds-Woodway is ranked 12th).

Despite the loss, Marysville Getchell still got an impressive performance from Arion Palacol, who went 10 of 23 en route to 24 points. That was a full 57.1% of Marysville Getchell's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Modou Jammeh, who had four points.

Edmonds-Woodway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cam Hiatt out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Hiatt's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was William Alseth, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Marysville Getchell's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. As for Edmonds-Woodway, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Marysville Getchell and Seattle Academy will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Marysville Getchell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season. As for Edmonds-Woodway, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-55 win against Renton on the 27th.
