Recap: Southeast of Saline Trojans vs. Sedgwick Cardinals

Southeast of Saline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 13-4 defeat at the hands of the Sedgwick Cardinals. Southeast of Saline was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sedgwick apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

For Sedgwick's part, Sterling Lies and Karston Wall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lies struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Wall tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also only allowed one walk). At the plate, Lies scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Wall went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Jeff Nold was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Harris, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Southeast of Saline's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sedgwick, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast of Saline will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
