Basketball Recap: East Dayton Christian vs. Calvary Christian Spartans
East Dayton Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 66-31 defeat at the hands of Calvary Christian. East Dayton Christian was down 51-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
When it comes to explaining why East Dayton Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Damir Walder. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with five steals. Walder has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last four times he's played. Owen Warden was another key contributor, scoring three points along with two steals.
East Dayton Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian racked up 17 assists.
Calvary Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Schlatter led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeeke Wylie, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
East Dayton Christian dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
