Baseball Recap: Cooper City Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cooper City won against Golden Gate last Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Cooper City walked away with an 11-6 win over the First Baptist Academy Lions. The victory was familiar territory for the Cowboys, who have now won four games in a row.

Vito Faridani spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nick Tubito, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Bovington, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Cooper City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cooper City's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for First Baptist Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cooper City will square off against Community School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Naples' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Cooper City's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for First Baptist Academy, they will take on IMG Academy Navy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
