Baseball Recap: Norristown Takes a Loss

Norristown had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it four. They lost 10-0 to the Upper Perkiomen Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in March.

As for Upper Perkiomen, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Upper Perkiomen's part, Jackson Long was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Long a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Rieg, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zane Saeger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Norristown will challenge rival Upper Merion Area at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Upper Perkiomen is set to square off against their familiar foe Pottsgrove at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
