Baseball Game Preview: Conneaut Spartans vs. Jefferson Area Falcons

Conneaut is 2-8 against Jefferson Area since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Spartans will welcome the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Conneaut is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 14-3 to Bristol.

Conneaut saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keigan Spring, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Girard.

Michael Riffle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Conneaut's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Jefferson Area, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

Conneaut couldn't quite get it done against Jefferson Area when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
