Recap: Greenwood Woodmen vs. Columbus North Bull Dogs

This season hasn't been kind to the Greenwood Woodmen, who are still winless after their fifth game. They took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbus North. Greenwood lost against Columbus North in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-30 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Greenwood lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Mosemann. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Mosemann scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Ollanketo, who scored 12 points.

Columbus North found their leader in underclassman Caleb Ferguson, who scored 19 points along with four steals. The match was Ferguson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Max Coomes was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

Greenwood bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Columbus North, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood will face off against Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelbyville is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Columbus North, they will head out on the road to face off against Columbus East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Columbus East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
