Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Hooper Academy

After losing to North River Christian the last time they met, Hooper Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Colts managed a 39-35 victory over the Chargers on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Colts' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Chargers are ranked 57th).

The victory got Hooper Academy back to even at 8-8. As for North River Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-3.

Hooper Academy and North River Christian will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Colts are set to challenge their familiar foe Edgewood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. Meanwhile, North River Christian will face off against rival Hope Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
