Basketball Recap: East River Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

East River won the last time they faced Timber Creek and things went their way on Tuesday too. The East River Falcons came out on top against the Timber Creek Wolves by a score of 56-48. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Wolves are ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joshua Perry, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Perry has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chase Hibbard, who put up nine points.

East River's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for Timber Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

East River will take on Winter Park in a tournament on Thursday. East River has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matches. As for Timber Creek, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lake Nona at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Nona is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
