Preview: Trinity Bulldogs vs. Randleman Tigers
The Trinity Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Randleman Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 795 points over their last 11 matches.
Trinity can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They breezed by Providence Grove at home to the tune of 79-51.
It was another big night for Dominic Payne, who scored 36 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Payne is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Campbell, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Randleman came tearing into Wednesday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Uwharrie Charter with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. Given Randleman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Uwharrie Charter is ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Randleman relied on the efforts of Tyshaun Goldston, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, and Greg Price, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Goldston is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games he's played. Jireh Price was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Trinity has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Randleman, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Trinity hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 68.3 points per game. However, it's not like Randleman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Trinity came up short against Randleman when the teams last played back in January, falling 74-69. Can Trinity avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
