Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Sunnyside's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

While Sunnyside put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Rincon/University. The Blue Devils blew past the Rangers 13-0. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sunnyside got a massive performance out of Arianna Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Garcia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Silva, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rincon/University only posted an OBP of .125.

Sunnyside is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Rincon/University, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will face off against Rio Rico at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Rincon/University, they will square off against Flowing Wells at 4:00 p.m. on the 25th.
