Softball Recap: River Mill Has No Trouble Against Central Carolina Academy

River Mill never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Central Carolina Academy Eagles as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Lexi Melton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Summer Basden was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Anna Rominger was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

River Mill lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for River Mill and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Central Carolina Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

River Mill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Carolina Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against North Moore at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
