            Softball Recap: Langley Saxons vs. Oakton Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Langley had no problem doing just that  on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oakton Cougars  a   6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Saxons, who have now won ten games by six  runs or more  so far this season.

 Norah Jacques made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI.
 Jacques wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Caitlin Hohenthaner, who  went 1-for-4 with two  RBI and one  run. Another  was  Mina Britt, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs and one  double.
 Langley  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in five consecutive  matches.
Langley has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-1 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Oakton,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 12-9.
 Coming up, Langley will head out to  take on McLean  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Saxons 2, the Highlanders 0.8) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Oakton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
