Soccer Game Preview: Placer vs. Roseville

The Placer Hillmen will head out on the road to challenge the Roseville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Placer has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Roseville will arrive with seven straight wins.

On Wednesday, Placer didn't have quite enough to beat Del Campo and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Hillmen have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Roseville's game on Wednesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Yuba City out 2-1. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Honkers are ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nevin Chauhan was the driving force of Roseville's attack as he scored both of Roseville's goals, bringing his season total up to three goals.

Roseville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three games. As for Placer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Placer might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Roseville when the teams last played last Monday. Can Placer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
