Baseball Recap: Eastpointe Comes Up Short

Eastpointe had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it 13. They lost 21-1 to the Madison Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Shamrocks couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Madison, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

For Madison's part, Evan Olceski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Olceski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four).

In other batting news, Shawn Dennis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tamarii Gentry, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

While Eastpointe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
