Baseball Game Preview: Nordonia Knights vs. Gilmour Academy Lancers

The Nordonia Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nordonia's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Gilmour Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Nordonia can't be too worried about heading out to take on Gilmour Academy: they just beat Independence at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Knights came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 6-3 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Steven Fakult tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Reville, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominik Canzoni, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Nordonia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, Gilmour Academy suffered their closest defeat since May 1, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Mayfield by a score of 3-1.

Nordonia pushed their record up to 5-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gilmour Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Nordonia came out on top in a nail-biter against Gilmour Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
