Baseball Game Preview: Osakis Silverstreaks vs. Benson

The Osakis Silverstreaks will head out to square off against Benson at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Blake Fischer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Osakis is 2-1 when Fischer posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-5 otherwise. Logan Schjenken also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Benson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Minnewaska Area, falling 15-3. That's two games in a row now that Benson has lost by exactly 12 runs.

Benson's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Osakis, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Osakis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Benson struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
