Baseball Recap: Central Cambria Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Cambria). They blew past the Bishop McCort Crushers 14-6 on Monday. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.

Rocco Barra made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barra was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Central Cambria got a massive performance out of Ben Howard, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Howard a new career-high. Mason Pittsinger was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Central Cambria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Central Cambria's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Bishop McCort, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.
