Softball Recap: Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy Victorious

Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played South Lafourche, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand South Lafourche a 9-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

South Lafourche's batters probably weren't too happy with Veronica Bourgeois, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up two walks). Those 12 strikeouts gave Bourgeois a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy got a massive performance out of Hayden Williamson, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Williamson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Lahr, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for South Lafourche, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16.

Coming up, Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy will host Haynes Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Lafourche, they will venture away from home to challenge Morgan City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Morgan City has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.08 runs per game on average), something South Lafourche will no doubt try to take advantage of.
