Football Game Preview: Laurel Golden Tornadoes vs. Stone Tomcats + Official Tickets

The Laurel Golden Tornadoes are taking a road trip to face off against the Stone Tomcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Laurel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 39-3 victory over Purvis. The win was nothing new for the Golden Tornadoes as they're now sitting on five straight.

Meanwhile, Stone won against East Central two weeks ago with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Tomcats breezed past Sumrall to the tune of 35-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.

Laurel better focus on containing Ayden Green and Jayden Collins as the pair were huge in Stone's win. Green rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while Collins gained 170 total yards and two touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Green has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Amarion Fairley, who rushed for 69 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Stone was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 396 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Stone didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brayden Williams and Ryan Theriot. Williams is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 23 games he's played dating back to last season.

Laurel's record is now 5-6. As for Stone, their record now sits at 8-3.

Laurel couldn't quite finish off Stone in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 24-21. Can the Golden Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
