Basketball Recap: Konawa Tigers vs. Allen Mustangs
Konawa lost to Allen back in January of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers took a blow against the Mustangs, falling 58-18. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 71st).
Allen had a senior duo take command as Cherish Woodward went 5-for-8 en route to 18 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals and Addison Prentice shot 70% from the field on her way to 19 points along with six boards and five steals. Woodward is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Kayla Nickell was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Konawa and nudges their season record down to 2-11. As for Allen, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Konawa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Maud at 6:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Allen, they will welcome Stroud at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
