Volleyball Recap: Pike Central Chargers vs. South Spencer Rebels

Pike Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Spencer Rebels. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Heidi Woodford paced Pike Central's offense, picking up four kills. Woodford got some help from Braelyn Barnett and her seven assists. Jovie Mills controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

South Spencer found their leader in sophomore Brooklyn Joseph, who had six digs, five kills, and five aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Southwood, who had 15 assists and five digs.

Pike Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for South Spencer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Pike Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against North Posey on the 15th. As for South Spencer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Perry Central on the 13th.
