Basketball Recap: St. Patrick's Gets the Win

If Perkins County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played St. Patrick, they should've done a better job of containing Peyton Kramer. The Irish were the clear victors by a 73-52 margin over the Plainsmen on Friday with plenty of help from Kramer, who shot 76% from the field to rack up 34 points and eight rebounds. He is becoming a predictor of St. Patrick's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Heirigs, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. His big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points.

Perkins County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Colton Kroeker, who posted six points along with seven assists and six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Ethan Swesey was another key player, putting up 14 points.

St. Patrick's record is now 5-6. As for Perkins County, they now also have a losing record of 5-6.

St. Patrick's has already played their next matchup, an 81-50 loss against Cozad on the 10th. As for Perkins County, they will square off against Chase County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
