Basketball Recap: Moses Brown Quakers vs. Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties
The Moses Brown Quakers waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They put the hurt on Mount St. Charles Academy with a sharp 66-41 victory. Moses Brown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Moses Brown found their leader in underclassman Lauren Bousquet, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bousquet has scored at least a third of Moses Brown's points. Jaelynn Perez was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Mount St. Charles Academy still got an impressive performance from Mariia Solovian, who scored ten points along with four blocks and two steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Roberts, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Moses Brown pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mount St. Charles Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.
Moses Brown will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kilties at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Rhode Island Rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Quakers are ranked second). As for Mount St. Charles Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Clippers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
