Last Tuesday, Edmund Burke Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Thomas Jefferson Academy, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. The victory was just what Edmund Burke Academy needed coming off of a 58-36 defeat in their prior contest.
Edmund Burke Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mark Wasden, who scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Wasden scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Mobley, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Briarwood Academy came up short against Augusta Prep Day on Tuesday and fell 54-47.
Edmund Burke Academy's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for Briarwood Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season.
