Baseball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 29-1 to the Silver Creek Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 last Tuesday.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Silver Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will face off against Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mt. Pleasant has averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Silver Creek, they will take on Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lincoln's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Silver Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
