Basketball Game Preview: Boyd Yellowjackets vs. Whitesboro Bearcats

Boyd is 0-8 against Whitesboro since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Boyd Yellowjackets will host the Whitesboro Bearcats at 2:15 p.m.

Boyd is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Graham.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lex Horton, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Kade Spencer, who put up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Whitesboro strolled past Pilot Point with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-40. Given Whitesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Pilot Point is ranked 1110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitesboro's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Boyd, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.

Boyd and Whitesboro were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but Boyd came up empty-handed after a 36-35 defeat. Can Boyd avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
