Basketball Recap: Valley Christian Takes a Loss

Valley Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Making Waves Academy Marlins. The Vikings lost against the Marlins in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 73-44 score last time.

Making Waves Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leroy Moon led the charge by putting up 18 points and seven rebounds. Those 18 points gave Moon a new career-high. Ollie Obinyan was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Making Waves Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Valley Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-41 loss against Making Waves Academy on the 25th. Making Waves Academy has also already played their next match, a 72-22 win against Fremont Christian on the 24th.
