Softball Recap: Owen County Rebels vs. Trimble County Raiders
Owen County extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trimble County Raiders. The Rebels were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Abigayle Dempsey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run.
As for Trimble County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
On Trimble County's side, Hannah Chilton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Chilton has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Chilton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jocie Stucker, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
While Owen County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
