Soccer Game Preview: Central Davidson vs. Providence Grove

Central Davidson is 0-4 against Providence Grove since April of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. The Central Davidson Spartans will challenge the Providence Grove Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Central Davidson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.2 goals per game this season.

While Central Davidson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their defense stepped up to hand Parkland a 7-0 shutout on Monday. It was an even better day for Carrie Street as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, after soaring to seven goals the game before, Providence Grove was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 6-0 to Uwharrie Charter Academy. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The win made it two in a row for Central Davidson and bumps their season record up to 6-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Providence Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

Central Davidson came up short against Providence Grove in their previous meeting last Monday, falling 3-1. Can Central Davidson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
