There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Christian and Monte Vista.
Can't Touch This
Valley Center's 40 - 14 win over Imperial last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Mateo Sinohui. Sinohui earned two touchdowns and 228 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Sinohui among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Cathedral Catholic and Helix, 3rd and 6th in the power rankings, respectively. Cathedral Catholic claimed a 30 - 21 victory over Helix. The win raised Cathedral Catholic up one spot in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Lincoln and Sweetwater went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (67) among all power ranked teams. Lincoln picked up a decisive 'W' against Sweetwater, finishing up at 67 - 0. Nevertheless, Lincoln did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped five spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between St. Augustine (4th in the power rankings) and Helix (6th). St. Augustine will be strutting in after a win while Helix will be stumbling in from a defeat. Will St. Augustine repeat its success, or will Helix bounce back and dish team a loss?
