Football Game Preview: Sarasota Sailors vs. Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs + Official Tickets

After each having a week off, the Sarasota Sailors and the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sarasota has given up an average of 32 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sarasota is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games last Friday. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Parrish Community. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Bulls are ranked 107th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayden Rivers, who picked up 170 receiving yards and one score. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 55 yards. Colton Dempsey was in the mix too, providing Sarasota with two TDs.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joaquin Garcia won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Royal Palm Beach 27-26. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Sarasota better keep an eye on Caleb Butler. He was instrumental in Dr. Joaquin Garcia's win, throwing for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 50 yards. Butler's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Dr. Joaquin Garcia's leading receiver Vincent Lewis was Butler's top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one score.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Sarasota, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
