Basketball Game Preview: Lake Creek Lions vs. Montgomery Bears

The Lake Creek Lions will take on the Montgomery Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.

On Friday, Lake Creek ended up a good deal behind Brenham and lost 58-43. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Lake Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cody Puckett, who posted ten points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most steals Puckett has posted since back in February of 2024. Jeremiah Mcshan was another key player, putting up five points along with five assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Montgomery won against A&M Consolidated on Tuesday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Montgomery took down Rudder 54-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Montgomery has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Lake Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Lake Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Montgomery in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-54 win. Will Lake Creek repeat their success, or does Montgomery have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
