Baseball Recap: The Master's Academy Extends Winning Streak to Seven

The Master's Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against Bob Jones Academy as they made off with a 10-3 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Sawyer Waugh and Matthew Herring made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Waugh struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Herring struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Waugh went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Herring went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Herring has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Hunter, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Conrad Schmidt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The Master's Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Bob Jones Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, The Master's Academy will square off against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. Bob Jones Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
