Softball Recap: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers vs. Centennial Chargers
Paxton-Buckley-Loda had lost nine straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it ten. They lost 11-5 to the Centennial Chargers. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Lavender, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. Makenna Stout also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Centennial, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
On Centennial's side, Zoe Goodreau made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Goodreau has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs.
In other batting news, Annie Loschen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brylie Klaudt was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paxton-Buckley-Loda will challenge St. Thomas More at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sabers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.55 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Centennial, they will face off against St. Joseph-Ogden at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
