Baseball Recap: Dugger Union Takes a Loss

Dugger Union extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They came up short against the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds, falling 23-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 22-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Dash Walters made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Eija Gennicks was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Eastern Greene, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Eastern Greene's side, Chaz Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Perry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs. Eastern Greene is 2-1 when Perry posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Landon Norris was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Saxton Pennycuff, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Dugger Union has already played their next contest, a 26-3 defeat against Riverton Parke on the 4th. As for Eastern Greene, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against White River Valley on the 6th.
